Shelly began her training as an artistic gymnast at the age of 6. She later switched to rhythmic gymnastics where she found the perfect sport for her natural grace and flexibility.  She eventually became a nationally ranked rhythmic gymnast and traveled the country to compete against other Level 10 gymnasts.  At fifteen, Shelly began her career in entertainment by performing contortion and rhythmic gymnastics at local events.

Shelly now performs a variety of professional-level circus entertainment acts, including, contortion, hand-balancing, aerial silks and hoop, lollipop lyra, stilt-walking, juggling, and ribbon dancing.  She has performed on Broadway in Pippin the Musical and as part of Cirque Du Soleil's Premier of Kurios in Tysons Corner.  Audiences across the country and abroad have enjoyed her performances in productions including those with Imago Entertainment in Hong Kong, with Cirque Productions in Italy, Puerto Rico, and in the Bahamas, and with Cirque Voila in a tour across the US. D.C. area venues have included the Kennedy Center, the Verizon Center, the MGM Grand Casino, and the Gaylord National Resort and Conference Center.

Shelly holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Towson University.  She draws upon her educational background as well as her competitive gymnastics and professional performance experiences as she teaches flexibility, acrobatics, and hand-balancing out of her studio in Gaithersburg, MD.  Her current students come from a wide range of backgrounds and interests, including gymnasts, dancers, cheerleaders and aerialists.

Shelly has recently added professional photography to her extensive skill set. As a performer and model, Shelly knows what works in front of a camera, and she uses this insight to capture images of artists and athletes performing at their best.
